On July 1, 2016, Claus Blattner will be handing over the management to Wilhelm Schmitt. The manager previously worked as Head of Project Management/Strategy Concepts for chassis at AUDI AG. Schmitt is hardly a stranger to the EFS family. He was strategically involved even in the early days of the company. Claus Blattner is returning to AUDI AG. As Project Manager for chassis, he will be responsible for complete chassis projects in the C and D-SUV (sport utility vehicle) class and all electric vehicles on the high-floor platform.

With the move to EFS, Wilhelm Schmitt is fulfilling a long-cherished dream: “As a holding company, EFS is Audi’s number-one partner in chassis development,” explains the native of Aschaffenburg. “Our main task is to interpret future topics such as digitization, electrification and automated driving specifically for chassis development to develop and implement new technologies with Audi for this.”

Wilhelm Schmitt worked in chassis development at AUDI AG from 2007: As Head of Project Management/Strategy Concepts for chassis, he was particularly responsible for interdepartmental functional and strategic development. Furthermore, he worked as head of the Competence-Management Group for Technical Development (TD), is a member of the TD Strategy Group and was project manager for various overarching change projects. Before his time at Audi, Wilhelm Schmitt held various management positions at Volkswagen AG and its subsidiaries, from 2001 to 2007 he was Head of Management Consulting, Sales and Marketing and Site Manager for Volkswagen Bildungsinstitut GmbH branches in Dresden, Pozna? and Polkowice.

Elektronische Fahrwerksysteme GmbH is a joint venture between the GIGATRONIK Group and Audi Electronics Venture GmbH (AEV). As a development partner of AUDI AG and the VW Group, the company develops system software for innovative chassis electronics, such as stability and driver-assistance systems for piloted driving, and looks after their integration into the vehicle. The goal of EFS is both to meet the given requirements of the automotive and AUTOSAR architectures and to bring innovative features to life for their customers in a short time and with high quality. EFS has its head office in the Gaimersheim Innovation and Development Centre (IEZ), which serves as the joint headquarters of GIGATRONIK and EFS. EFS has more than 300 employees here and at a further site in Wolfsburg.
